Blood
Ties: Jango and Boba Fett #1
By Tom Taylor, Chris Scalf et al.
Reviewed by Ewan, Star Wars Books:
It must seem as if every other Star Wars comic story released
recently has been written by Tom Taylor and judging by his previous
stories this is no bad thing [...] Taylor has a particular
skill for exploring relationships within his stories [...] in
Blood Ties we are witness to the father/son relationship between
Jango Fett and his cloned son Boba that was sadly missing from
Attack of the Clones [...] Chris Scalf's art is, quite
frankly, unbelievably awe inspiring [...] a worthy addition
to any fan's Star Wars comics library and is particularly
recommended to fans who have yet to experience Star Wars stories in
comic form... read our full

The Clone Wars webcomic
to return with Season 3:
Posted: 25th August
The Clone Wars webcomic
artist Tom Hodges has announced on Dark
Horse Comics' Message Boards
that he, Pablo Hildago and Grant Gould are working on The Clone
Wars Season 3 webcomic:
Working on the S3 comic as we
speak. The original plan was to have a Summer story but with
everything we had going on (mainly C5) we pushed it back. So the
opening storyline of Season 3 will be a self contained, multi-week
story that I will be providing the Art (Color by Grant Gould). The
story was also written by myself and Pablo Hildago.
Then transition into much like the Season 1 format of short
stories BUT we won't directly follow the animated series storyline
and we'll be bringing Katie [Cook] back into the rotation
here and there.
Tom has been posting
"work-in-progress" images from Season 3 webcomic via his
Twitter account @HodgesArt
(or search for #CloneWarsWebcomic3 ).
The Clone Wars Season 3 is due to premier in the US on Cartoon
Network on 17th September. |

Full synopsis for Fate of
the Jedi: Vortex and rear cover:
Posted: 24th August
StarWars.com
has posted the much anticipated back
cover
for the sixth Fate of the
Jedi novel, Vortex,
as it features Jedi Master Kenth Hamner - a character never before
illustrated.
They have also posted an expanded synopsis for the novel by Troy
Denning (as this contains potential spoilers,
highlight between the arrowheads to read):
>>>In
a stunning turn of events, Luke Skywalker and his son, Ben, joined
forces with members of the Sith armada sent to kill them -- and
turned their combined might against the monstrous being Abeloth,
whose power was causing young Jedi Knights to go seemingly insane.
But with Abeloth gone and the Knights sane again, the Sith
reverted to form, making a treacherous attempt on Luke's life.
Luke and Ben have no time for retaliation. A new and even more
insidious threat is rising, one that endangers not only the Jedi
but the entire Galactic Alliance. Unless the Skywalkers survive to
sound the alarm -- and to pass along the secrets they have learned
about Abeloth and the Sith -- the galaxy will suffer as it has
never suffered before. But the reinforcements they need remain
grounded on Coruscant, where the political battle of wills between
the Jedi Council and Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala
has reached a boiling point.
Now Luke and Ben must go on the run, taking along the inscrutable
-- and dangerous -- Sith apprentice Vestara Khai. With a host of
Sith warriors in hot pursuit, the Skywalkers soon find themselves
trapped on the moon Pydyr, caught between their former allies and
a mob of angry Fallanassi. A new truce may be their only hope. But
can a Sith ever be trusted?
With the Jedi's most famous father-and-son team outnumbered and
outgunned, the countdown to galactic disaster has begun -- and
time is running out!<<<
Fate
of the Jedi: Vortex by Troy Denning is due for release in
hardback on 7th (US) and 9th (UK) December.

To whet fans appetites further, Paul S. Kemp has posted a second
teaser excerpt from Riptide, his sequel to Crosscurrent,
on his blog :
They’d all felt it, even
the children, as the cloakshape fighter carrying them had blazed
through the white hot aftermath of the starship’s explosion.
Between the surface of the frozen moon and the safety of outer
space had hung a cloud of smoke, flaming debris, superheated gas,
and…something more.

Third A Long Time Ago...
volume due February 2011:
Posted: 16th August
Amazon.com
has listed the third volume of the A Long Time Ago...
series of Omnibus which
collate Marvel Comics' Star Wars line from the late-1970s to
mid-1980s with a projected release date of late February 2011.
While we wait for official confirmation from Dark Horse Books
(expected next month in their December solicitations), we can
speculate on its contents based on the previous two volumes.
Although Amazon do not list the actual contents of this issue
it does state a page count of 488 pages (just 8 more pages than the
two previous volumes), even allowing for errors it is likely that
this third volume would collate either issues #50 thru #76 or issues
#50 thru #71 plus the second king-sized annual from 1982. |
