| Unleash the Force! |
|
Set in the dark times between Revenge of the Sith and
A New Hope, the story is both a continuation of the prequel trilogy
- exploring the aftermath of Order 66 - and a direct bridge to the
prequel trilogy. The Force Unleashed will forever change the
fate of the Galaxy and explain key plot points that directly lead
into events in A New Hope.
The Force Unleashed tells the story of Darth Vader's Secret
Apprentice, a mysterious figure trained by the Dark Lord of the Sith
but kept hidden from the Emperor, to hunt down the last of the Jedi. |
|
The multimedia event of 2008 (we can
still remember when it was supposed to be 2007!) is rapidly
approaching. Soon you will be able to unleash the Force on your
video game console of choice by playing the role of Darth Vader's
secret apprentice, as you travel the Galaxy from the Wookie
homeworld of Kashyyyk to the junkyard planet of Raxus Prime and the
mushroom-covered planet, Felucia, as you hunt down the last
surviving members of the Jedi Order!

The Force Unleashed
novelisation slips, again:
14th March
As widely reported, The Force Unleashed's release date
has slipped from June to August. Planned as this year's (well
actually it was supposed to be last year's) major Star Wars
multimedia event, these continual delays make us question whether we
will see this project this year as this delay will now see it
overlap with the release of The Clone Wars 3-D animation in
cinemas. |

The Force
Unleashed video games: |
 |
|
|
|
|
Designed specifically for the
next generation consoles* the game will use a number of new
technologies such as Digital Molecular Matter (DMM) which is
used to simulate a number of real-world materials such as
wood and glass, as well as Star Wars only materials like
carbonite. There’s also the Euphoria system which allows
even the most minor of onscreen characters to animate and
react as a living creature – balancing themselves if they
are knocked over or even instinctively knowing to grab on to
ledges or vehicles if they fall.
Of course all this technology is primarily used to ensure
Force powered battles are as epic and destructive as
possible with Jedi throwing Imperial walkers and
Stormtroopers around with ease as they engage in fierce
lightsabre battles. Playing the bad guy is often the most
fun in video games and as Darth Vader’s apprentice you’re
really learning from the best.
Game Features**:
-
During the period between
Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of
Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
-
Unleash and upgrade the
Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push,
grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of
the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive,
never-before-seen combos.
-
Examples of unleashing
the Force in ways never thought possible:
-
The Secret Apprentice
won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll
Force push enemies through walls.
-
The Secret Apprentice
won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside -
he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with
lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode
like a bomb.
-
In addition to new
adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive
Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also
confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star
Wars films, including Darth Vader.
-
Visit locations such as
Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral
Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial
TIE fighter construction facility.
-
The Force Unleashed
is LucasArts' first internally developed title for
next-generation consoles, and it represents the first
in-game collaboration of talents and technology between
LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two
companies now finally under one roof at the new
Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's
Presidio district.
-
The Force Unleashed
debuts Digital Molecular Matter from Pixelux and
euphoria behavioral simulation from NaturalMotion Ltd.
-
Decisions made by players
throughout the game will determine the path of the
story, including multiple endings that will rock Star
Wars continuity as they know it.
