Review
by Ewan, Star Wars Books, 2009:
"Star Wars: Punch Out and Play does exactly what is says
on its cover with 12 high-quality images that punch out forming
two-dimensional standees of some of the most iconic figures from all
six movies. While Star Wars: Punch Out and Play maybe
targeted at children and younger Star Wars fans, who will certainly
enjoy playing with their favourite Star Wars characters, older
readers should not dismiss out-of-hand this book as it puts the fun
back into Star Wars. Especially for the many fans that found the
Prequel films lacking, or for those that over the last 30 or so
years seem to have lost that sense of wonderment they had when
seeing Star Wars for the first time. For what better way is there to
restore it than having a 10 inch paper standee of Darth Vader or an
Imperial Stormtrooper (or both, or even all twelve figures) standing
on your desk at work? And you know it's always going to be an office
conversation starter, especially the standee of Princess Leia in her
slave-girl outfit from Return of the Jedi. You could even
rotate the standees to suit your mood: perhaps Yoda or Obi-Wan to
offer a little guidance and support; Palpatine or Darth Maul when
you feel slightly mischievous; or even Chewbacca, for those moments
when you just need a loyal friend.
"The only criticism of this book is that there is not standee
of Anakin Skywalker, strangely though there is an image of him from Revenge
of the Sith on the inside back cover, as the popularity of The
Clone Wars TV series and its related merchandise with children
would have made a standee of Anakin more appropriate than that of
Nute Gunray.
"Nevertheless, this book is fun so go on, have some fun with Star
Wars: Punch Out and Play, it'll brighten your day. And your
office."
