Synopsis:
The Sullustan mold farmers of Gelgelar have been fighting the native Glarsaurs ever since settling there. T'laerean Larn, a student of the Force, is determined to do something about it. He merges his senses with a reeho bird to spy on the enemy. When he discovers the Glarsaurs are planning an ambush, T'laerean orders the reeho back to his unconscious body so he can break the meld.
The reeho almost makes it, but a Sullustan girl, Raenyn, and her friend catch it in a basket. Raenyn's mother takes her new pet away from her - it will be a meal for Raenyn's father, instead! T'laerean coaxes the bird to escape, but the reeho is recaptured by the girls.
Raenyn hatches a plan to keep the reeho as a pet. She will hide it in T'laerean's room, where no one will look because he is "dead." And as for his body, Raenyn decides to bury him! Once more, though, the reeho instinctively escapes, but now it will not obey T'laerean's commands! It flies into Glarsaur territory, where it is caught and eaten by a Glarsaur.
T'laerean is awakened later by his master, the Wise Man of Kooroo. Despite his efforts, the Glarsaurs ambushed the farmers, but they won the battle. And Raenyn's father is being praised as the hero, instead of T'laerean! He humbly agrees with the Wise Man that he still has much to learn of the Force.
