Synopsis:
Obi-Wan Kenobi has taken exile on Tatooine where he
relives his failure in training Anakin Skywalker and the
consequences of his padawan's fall to the Dark Side. One
day as he performs a perfunctory security check of the
Lars homestead, he discovers that twenty vaporators have
been stolen by Tusken Raiders. Obi-Wan volunteers to
recover the lost machines, but Owen forbids him. Worried
about the loss of either Owen or Beru upon the
upbringing of the baby, Obi-Wan ignores Owen and sets
out to locate the thieves. It doesn't take him long to
locate the Sand Peoples' camp and successfully
infiltrates and locates the stolen merchandise. However,
his attempt to transport the vaporators fails when he is
discovered by a Tusken guard. For a brief minute,
Obi-Wan is overwhelmed and is tempted by the Dark Side
to strike down all the camps' inhabitants, however Qui-Gon
Jinn's teachings soon reach out to him and he finds a
non-lethal solution to his problem. He is so successful
that his reputation against the Tusken Raiders will
spread and his name be revered and feared far into the
future.
His return to the Lars homestead with the stolen
vaporators is a cold and unemotional affair in which
Owen makes it clear that Obi-Wan is not a part of his
family. Obi-Wan turns and makes his way back to the
desert with the image of a gurgling, but happy baby in
his mind.
