| Celebrate and display your Star
Wars book collection. |
|
|
Reading a Star Wars book is the enjoyment of
immersing yourself in the stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away... But
once we have read one book, we will want to read the next so that we
can discover what happens next in the continuing stories of the
adventures of our Star Wars heroes (and villains). We may even be
inspired to seek out older books, or even try reading comic stories
as well as books, but whatever happens, after a few years we will
have begun to accumulate our own Star Wars books' library.
For many the enjoyment of reading becomes the excitement of
collecting but unfortunately, celebrating and displaying individual
book collections online is rather sparse. Other forms of Star Wars
merchandise collecting such as toy figures, sculptures and posters,
have numerous sites that allow collectors to celebrate and display
their collections for other collectors to view; so in an attempt to
correct this, Star Wars Books offer My Book Collection
- online space dedicated to celebrating and displaying the book
(and/or comic) collections of Star Wars book fans.

To have your Star Wars book
collection displayed here is very simple - just send an email
with photos of your book collection!
So long as you are over 13 years old:
-
take a few photos of your
book and/or comic collection and attach them to the email.
Please resize each photograph to approximately 1000x700
pixels before sending.
Do not personalise the pictures, i.e. do not have
photographs taken with yourself or anyone else in the picture.
You can display your book collection as you like, e.g. in a book
case, spread out over the floor - however you like, it's your
collection!
-
tell us your name (or
nickname).
-
where you live (town/city,
state/county, country)
Do not send your full postal address.
-
your age (please indicate if
you would like this published).
You must be over 13 years old.
-
include a brief account of
your Star Wars book collection. Try including things like: how
many books you have collected so far, why you collect Star Wars
books (do you only collect a particular book type such as
comics, etc?), when you started (which was your first Star Wars
book?), which book have you just bought and why you bought it
(was it particularly difficult to find?), which book are you
most pleased about owning (is it rare? has a special cover? was
it a limited edition? something else?).
-
it doesn't matter how small
(or even how large) your Star Wars book collection is - just
celebrate it with other book fans.
Once we have received your email,
we will let you know when we expect to publish your pictures. |

"I
collect for the stories. I was first exposed to the expanded
universe probably with the Ewok movies as a kid. I know I was
very excited to learn there were additional stories that take
place in the same universe as the films. My first novel was
"Splinter of the Mind's Eye" and then I think "Truce at
Bakura" [...] I decided that Star Wars was going to be my
thing, and I was going to try to know everything there was to
know about it. I have been collecting seriously for the last 5
years or so and casually before that for about 15. Most of my
collection is used books, but I do pick up new items now and
then [...] I have a
blog
where I go over some of the necessary challenges when
dealing with a collection like this such as: Helpful software
for cataloging your collection. Various fun ways of displaying
it. The best places to look for used books etc."

"I
have been a huge fan of all things Star Wars since I was 5
years old and really started to get into the expanded universe
about 2 years ago with the first 2 Darth Bane novels. All my
novels are paperback and I have collected approx 116 to today
with the release of Riptide, I also own a full set of
KOTOR graphic novels and some other graphic novels, a few
hardback reference books and of course the holy grail that is The
Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia. I am currently reading my
paperbacks in chronological order and am half way through the
NJO series which I am really enjoying, but I still have a ways
to go until I reach Fate of the Jedi. My top books to
recommend so far would be the Darth Bane Trilogy, Labyrinth
of Evil and Darksaber"

"I'm
a big Star Wars fan since I remember, so I try to collect all
stuff including movies, soundtracks, novels, comics, toys,
collectibles, posters, standups, videogames, etc.
I started to collect the books in 1996 with Shadows of the
Empire, I'm focused on adult novels and recently comic
collections such as Legacy, maybe later when I run out
of fresh releases I will concentrate on young reader novels
and children books"...more

"I’ve
always been a huge fan of the movies, but I really started
collecting books about three years ago when I bought a cheap
copy of the Thrawn Trilogy on eBay. I devoured those books and
started buying more and more EU books – most of them could
be had for cheap on eBay. I have always loved hardcovers, so
that was the original focus of my collection. Even though it
always costs more to buy hardcovers, I like the reading
experience and I really like how they all look on the shelf
(as opposed to paperbacks)."...more

Gertrude Perkins,

"This
is my collection of about 100 Star Wars graphic novels and
annuals. I started collecting them when someone gave me all
six issues of Dark Empire in the mid-1990's, but where
I live makes it hard to buy Star Wars comic books and so I
have concentrated on the graphic novels from Dark Horse. I
have just completed the 12 volume Dark Horse 30th Anniversary
hardback collection with volume 12: Legacy. Annuals are
a more recent addition to the collection, but I am pleased
with two Return of the Jedi annuals by Marvel I
discovered in a car boot sale for 50p each"...more
