Corphelion Interlude

SHORT STORY

Published:

2003

Synopsis:
For their honeymoon, Han Solo and Leia travel to the Corphelion asteroid, sight of wonderous comets. Too bad the resort is overbooked and the “private dome” is filled with tourists. Over their heads, the transparent dome shows one giant comet splitting in two. One of the two comets created as a result seems to be creeping close to the resort, and Leia thinks maybe they should head back to the Falcon. But Han won’t hear of it. “Relax. Everything’s under control, sweetheart.” As the comet grows larger and larger over the dome, the tourists panic and rush into the evacuation stations. But Han and Leia relax in a patio and watch the show in each other’s arms. Han himself starts to get nervous as the comet gets closer…but just as he’s about to drag Leia towards shelter, the comet finally veers away. He draws Leia into a kiss as the asteroid passes through the comet’s tail, filling the skies with mini-fireworks. The tourists return and cheer at the sight of the embracing newlyweds, who decide maybe they should head to the Falcon after all.
