lack of field and battle experience when Admiral Ackbar recognises
the strategy, being a former slave of Tarkin. Ackbar countermove
destroys another of Daala's Star Destroyers and so she retaliates by
attacking several Mon Calamari floating cities before retreating.
With just two Star Destroyers remaining, Daala plans her most
ambitious and desperate attack: crashing one of the Star Destroyers
into the New Republic capital, Coruscant. Unfortunately, Kyp Durron,
now a Jedi Knight, prevents the attack when he uses the Sun
Crusher to cause a star to go supernova which destroys the
sacrificed Star Destroyer before it can enter Coruscant space.
With her last remaining Star Destroyer, Daala returns to the Maw
Installation only to find that the New Republic have laid siege to
it. Worse still, disaffected scientists within the facility were
sabotaging it. Realising that the facility was lost Daala was able
to acquire all of its remaining secrets before destroying it
herself. (stories: Jedi

of the Force)
Having
lost her base of operations, the Maw Installation, Daala was forced
to retreat to the splintered Imperial forces where she believed she
could use her diplomatic skills to unite the warring factions.
However her efforts were in vain as the factions continued to fight
amongst themselves. Eventually Daala met Vice Admiral Gilad Pellaeon
(who had once been Grand Admiral Thrawn's
second-in-command) and who also believed that the continual
inter-faction fighting was self-destructive and between Daala and
Pellaeon they assassinated thirteen of the most important Imperial
warlords.
Taking control of the factions, Daala named herself Supreme
Commander and appointed Pellaeon as her second-in-command, and
prepared the Imperial forces for an assault on the newly formed Jedi
Academy on Yavin IV.
However, Jedi trainees Kyp Durron and Dorsk 81 had infiltrated the
Imperial camp and learned of Daala's plans for the attack on Yavin
IV. During their escape the two Jedi Knights fled to the planet
Khomm forcing Daala to split her forces in two: hers to track the
escapees, while Pellaeon's would begin the assault on the Jedi
Academy. Daala's fleet ravaged Khomm but were unable to capture the
two Jedi Knights. Meanwhile, pre-warned the Jedi Academy
successfully prevented Pellaeon's attack using, what Pellaeon
described as "Jedi sorcery", so when Daala's fleet finally
arrived at Yavin IV there was no sign of Pellaeon's fleet. Instead
Admiral Ackbar had arrived to protect the Academy with a small New
Republic fleet and during the ensuing battle Daala's Super Star
Destroyer, the Knight Hammer (pun intended), was sabotaged by Jedi
Knight Callista Ming. Unable to control her ship, it eventually
crashed into the gas giant plant Yavin but not before Daala had
evacuated in an escape pod.
When her pod was recovered by Pellaeon, Daala had realised that her
personal vendetta against the New Republic was costing too many
Imperial lives and so she relinquished her command to Pellaeon and
discharged herself from the military. (story: Darksaber)
Two
years later, Daala was settling with a colony of 3,000 on Peduccis
Chorios when they discovered that the planet had been poisoned with
the Death Seed plague. She learnt that the plague had been released
by an ex-Senator, Seti Ashgad; a corrupt Moff, Getelles; and by the
Loronar Corporation, and so she decided to fight against Seti,
Getelles and the Loronar Corporation even though it meant
cooperating with New Republic forces. Following the defeats of
Getelles, Seti and the Loronar Corporation, thanks in part to Daala,
she settled down with her old lover Liegeus Vorn. (story: Planet
of Twilight)

Over
the following years Daala returned to the Maw Installation and
established a small colony under her command. Vorn and Daala
had a son, who would later have a daughter, but during these
exile years Daala rebuilt the research facilities, designed
new weapons and constructed a small fleet known as the Maw
Irregular. At some point, Daala lost one eye during a
successful assassination of Vorn by Imperial Moffs.
After almost twenty-seven years in exile, Daala returned to
the galaxy during the reign of Darth Caedus when Grand Admiral
Pellaeon, leader of the Imperial Remnant, sent a secret
message to Daala asking for her assistance in dealing with
Darth Caedus' Galactic Alliance. Although Pellaeon was

fleet, the Maw Irregular sided with the Jedi Coalition that included
the Wookiees, Mandalorians and disaffected Galactic Alliance forces.
With new weapons developed at the Maw Installation, Daala's fleet
was instrumental in defeating Darth Caedus's and when Caedus was
eventually killed, Daala was nominated to become the Chief of State
for the restored Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. A position
she accepted. (stories: Revelation,
