Synopsis:
Bug swarms, space slugs, brains on legs, mad Imperial
scientists--Zak has had enough! He's glad to be on board
the luxury space yacht, Star of Empire, where at last,
there's peace and quiet. Until, "Abandon ship!
Critical meltdown!" As a blaring siren sounds,
panic-stricken passengers rush to get off the ship.
Everyone evacuates...except Zak and Tash. But to their
relief, nothing happens. There's no meltdown, no
explosion. Everything is fine. Except that the ship's
exits are sealed and all communications have been shut
down. Zak and Tash are trapped. And they are not alone.

"The
Galaxy of Fear trio take time out to go on an interstellar cruise that ends in disaster.
Whilst the notion of a group of fugitives on the run from the Empire going on a brief sojourn on a (technically) Imperial-affiliated cruise ship is a little far-fetched, the story itself is relatively entertaining. This book's cameo comes in the form of Dash Rendar, who actually works rather well and doesn't feel like a Han Solo clone.
Unfortunately, for anyone that has seen 2001: A Space Odyssey (or, in fact, for anyone who has any basic reasoning skills) the villain is painfully obvious, whereas the characters - especially Zak - seem so ridiculously oblivious to the truth that you want to scream.
One thing that I don't think was explained adequately was how Hoole was able to turn up and help. I shall not go into too much detail in order to avoid spoilers, but the explanation given in the book didn't quite make sense.
Generally rather adequate is, sadly, the greatest praise it can be given, but it is praise nonetheless."
