"Tash,
Zak and company end up on Nepsis 8, an ancient abandoned station
that supposedly contains a long lost Jedi library that is haunted by
a dark curse.
"This book definitely shows that it was written for children.
Aspects just do not make sense. The library, which exists within the
confines of a finite structure, has been sought after by treasure
hunters for years but never located (apparently). Along comes a 13
year old girl, who finds it in a few hours. Forceflow was always an
unbelievable character - a person that manages to obtain top secret
information on the Empire and then discuss it with strangers on the
Holonet - but in person is just plain disappointing (although he
makes much more sense after the twist is revealed) and the droid,
who constantly refers to his immense powers of calculation, is
actually rather indecisive and has the deductive reasoning skills of
a mynock.
"In addition, I couldn't help but think throughout this book
that the Arranda children are perhaps the most idiotic in history.
After everything they've been through, they still poke their noses
into dark and mysterious places and agree to meet suspicious
characters in sinister tunnels whilst not telling their Uncle about
any of it. Healthy curiosity is one thing, but you'd think they
would at least learn to spot the warning signs.
"In the plus column, Dannik Jerriko is a nice touch, and his
allegiance remains happily ambiguous for quite some time, creating a
pleasing air of mystery about him.
"Overall, whilst this book does break a little with some of the
conventions that have been bogging down the series, it isn't really
anything exciting."
