It is a time of opportunity. In a galaxy suppressed by imperial forces, there is little hope for the future. But for those who operate in the marginal zones, there is potential for profit.
The renegade archaeologist Chelli Aphra has briefly teamed up with Luke Skywalker and his friends to reactivate the Rur crystal, an artifact with the consciousness of an ancient Jedi. But as this endeavor leads to the fact that they can only escape Luke's familiarity with power, they decide that it is better to go separate ways.
Since she now still has the freshly reactivated Rur crystal, it is now time for Aphra to do what she does best: become kingdom or die while trying...

This story occurs between six and twelve months after Episode IV: A New Hope.
